Kenzie Ogden: Across the IWU athletic teams, nine student athletes have made the decision to be baptized on April 14. Resident Athletic Chaplain Dalton Miller said the event will be a celebration of athletes saying yes to stepping forward in their spiritual journey.

Dalton Miller: We want to celebrate the good things that God is doing in these people’s lives, but then also we wanted to bear witness to other athletes on campus or other non-athletes on campus.

Kenzie Ogden: Freshman outfielder Ella Phillips was baptized earlier this year in front of the softball team and coaches. Phillips said her coaches have encouraged her and her teammates both on and off the field.

Ella Phillips: Ultimately, like yeah, we want to be like good athletes and good softball players, but like really our coaches just want to like grow us more in our faith and grow us to be better people. They just really want the best for us and so do our teammates as well.

Kenzie Ogden: As athletes continue showing their desire to be baptized, Miller said that there is a possibility of more individuals showing interest in baptism.
